Ponta do Seixas Beach and Cabo Branco Lighthouse distance 8 km
The easternmost point in the Americas, this beach and lighthouse is a popular tourist attraction as the point closest to Europe in Brazil. The Cabo Branco lighthouse is a landmark of modern lighthouse architectural design.

Jacaré Beach and its famous sunset over classic music
distance 20 km
At Jacaré Beach several bars stop their Latin rhythms to the classic sound of Ravel's Bolero in order to allow guests to experience a synchronous live performance of classic music and the sunset.

Boat trips to Picãozinho in front of the Tropical Tambaú
Picãozinho is a coral bank where natural crystalline pools are formed during low tide, in front of the Tropical Tambau. It takes 15 minutes by boat to get there.

Theater Santa Roza distance 7 km
Built in 1889, this theatre was decorated in baroque style. It is one of the oldest theatres in the country and is located at Pedro Américo Square.

Santa Catarina Fortress – distance 25 km
The fortress built in 1586 holds the captain's house, a chapel and cannons from the XVI century. It is open for visitors daily, from 8am to 5:30pm and there is staff available for guided visits. Access to the fortress is next to the port. It is located at Ponta de Matos beach, municipality of Cabedelo.

Saint Francis Church and Saint Anthony Convent
distance 7 km
Totally embellished in baroque style, the church and the convent were built in 1589 and 1779 respectively. The highlights are the chapels of the Third Order of Saint Francis and Saint Benedict, featuring Portuguese ceramic panels and sacristy. The spaces also feature popular art exhibitions. There are guided tours. Hours are 9am to noon and 2pm to 5pm, each day. It is located at São Francisco Square.

Solon de Lucena Park  – distance 6 km
Located at the commercial centre of the paraibana capital, Solon de Lucena Park, also known as "Lagoa", is filled with centenary imperial palm trees, golden trumpet trees and acacias – the tree symbol of the city. At the center is a luminous fountain, which is a popular party and tourist spot in João Pessoa.

Arruda Câmara Park  - distance 6 km
This Park is a real oasis in the movement in the Centre of João Pessoa. Also known as "Bica" because of an old mineral water fountain, it features a zoo, botanic garden and leisure areas. Arruda Câmara Park is one of the most pleasant trips for visitors, presenting ecology, education and culture.

"Estação Ciência, Cultura e Artes" distance 7 km
This architectural site by famous Brazilian Architect Oscar Niemeyer provides a wide range of cultural and educational activities for local and tourists.

Museum of Cultural Center of Saint Francis – distance 7 km
A permanent exhibition of Religious and Baroque Art, the center also offers contemporary art and craft exhibitions at Saint Francis Church.

Dinosaur Valley distance 436 km
See the world's longest trail of dinosaur footprints located at the town of Sousa, in the state of Paraíba.

Beaches

There are many beaches to choose near by the Tropical Tambaú. Just a few of many choices include:

  • Barra de Mamanguape: This beach is protected by a reef so the waves are small.

  • Campina: This beach has large waves and fine sand and sand dunes and is ideal for surfing.

  • Oiteiro: This lovely beach features large waves, fine sand and coconut trees. There are no amenities for visitors, but it is a great surfing spot.

Nearby Beaches:

  • Ponta de Matos: An urban beach, plenty of reeves and coconut trees. It has dark sand and small waves which are ideal for swimming.
  • Formosa: This beach is protected by reeves. Its big waves are perfect for surfing. The sand is dark.
  • Areia Dourada: In this beach, the sand presents a red tone, there are some coconut trees and the water is calm.
  • Camboinha: A beach with small waves and clear water. A family place, ideal for bathing and some aquatic sports. From this place, some trips depart to The Island of Areia Vermelha.
  • Do Poco: Another beach that is enclosed by reeves. The waves are small, the sea is calm and the sand is fine. From this beach, it is possible to depart to The Island of Areia Vermelha too.
  • Da Ponta de Campina: A beach with fine red sand and calm clear water. A section of the ruins of Da Igreja N.S do Bonsucesso is situated in this zone.
  • Intermares (Dos Macacos Sea): A beach with big waves and clear sand, ideal for surfing. In this place, marine turtles spawn.

  • Do Bessa: A 6 kilometer urban beach that contains calm water and dark sand. The famous Club of Paraiba is located in this zone.

  • Manaíra: An urban beach with clear sand and small waves.

  • Tambaú: This is a very popular beach. Its waters are calm and its sand is fine. It has an admired roadway and an exciting nocturnal life.

  • Cabo Branco: Also an urban beach with fine sand and calm water. Its roadway and bicycle road are well known.

  • Do Sol: A beach with fine sand and dark water.
  • Barra do Gramame: This beach has calm clear waters. There are some fishermen houses and summer residences.

  • Areia Vermelha: The main characteristic of this beach is the bank of sand where natural pools are formed every 25 days. To arrive there, it is necessary to travel by boat from Camboinhas.

  • Tambaba Beach – Distance: 30 km
    In Tambaba, beach located in the district of Conde, natural beauties are great attractions. Palm trees and native vegetation contribute to perfect symbiosis between man and nature. A special area was reserved for naturism practiced by millions of people around the world and main responsible for the promotion of Tambaba beach and the state of Paraíba within international Tourism.
